This month dance training in the UK made the news but, unfortunately, it wasn’t good news.
The BBC published on 10 April an article, Akram Khan criticises quality of UK dance training.
Akram Khan (http://www.akramkhancompany.net/), Hofesh Schechter (http://www.hofesh.co.uk/) and others criticised the quality of training at UK dance schools. On 14 April they also published an article, Dance chief quits in row over quality of UK training. The article announced the resignation of Farooq Chaudry as chairman of Dance UK, an organisation of dance professionals (https://www.danceuk.org/. He was among those criticising the training.
Spokespersons for the dance schools defended the quality of the training their schools provide.
